| Following injuries sustained during London Wasps' Guinness Premiership Semi Final against Bath yesterday, players Danny Cipriani and Tom Voyce were admitted to the Lister Hospital in London last night. |
Cipriani underwent surgery (open reduction and internal fixation) last night for a fracture dislocation of his right ankle.
He will remain under observation in hospital for the next couple of days.
Cipriani will start intensive rehabilitation immediately. It is expected that he will take approximately six months to return to full fitness, although this time scale will be reviewed regularly during the rehabilitation process.
Tom Voyce received treatment to relocate his dislocated left shoulder. Voyce is currently in a comfortable condition, and will be discharged from hospital later this morning.
He will undergo an MRI scan and further review with a specialist shoulder consultant. Further information and a time scale regarding Voyce's return to fitness will be issued later this week.
London Wasps Head Physiotherapist, Prav Mathema said:
"On behalf of London Wasps, Danny and Tom, I would like to thank everyone who was involved in managing the treatment of those two players yesterday. London Wasps' own medical team, Bath's medical team, the paramedics, consultants and the Lister Hospital staff were exemplary in their medical care of these two players." |
